When pain asks to be heard

Emotions accompany us every day, even when we don’t pay attention to them. Sometimes we ignore them, other times we hide them or consider them too difficult to bear. Nevertheless, emotions profoundly influence our lives: the way we make decisions, how we relate to others, and how we feel in our own skin.

RECOGNITION

Learning to recognize our emotions is an important step toward achieving inner balance. When we manage to put into words what we feel, we understand ourselves and our reactions better. Emotions are not wrong or negative; they are signals that show us what is happening inside us and what we need at certain moments in life.

Often, emotions that we do not express remain “stuck” in the body. They may later appear in various forms: tension, fatigue, restlessness, or persistent sadness. Processing them does not mean chasing them away; it means giving them space, listening to them, and allowing them to manifest and settle at their own pace.

EXPERIENCING

The loss of a loved one brings with it intense and hard-to-explain emotions: pain, longing, anger, guilt, or a feeling of emptiness. Each person experiences grief differently, and sometimes it can be difficult to go through these states alone. Having a safe space to express our emotions matters greatly because it gives us permission to be honest with ourselves, and emotions such as sadness, anger, or fear receive attention and gentleness.

From this need arose the experiential workshop I will be hosting—“Lights and Shadows”—dedicated to those who have gone through or are going through the loss of a loved one. During the workshop, I will propose a few simple exercises designed to help reduce the intensity of emotions, raise awareness of inner experiences, and reconnect with oneself.

The workshop offers a supportive, non-judgmental space where each participant is invited to express themselves and take their time. It is an invitation not to remain alone with pain, but to take small but important steps toward peace and emotional balance.
